AAFL fleece buy price for the 2009 Clip will be available here from Monday September 7th, 2009
AAFL is committed to supporting and promoting Australian grown alpaca fibre both nationally and internationally. Our Fleece Division offers a range of services to the Australian growers to support them in developing a better quality fleece. Some of these services are listed below.
Services offered by AAFL include:
- Fleece classing
- Helpful tips and education by qualified classers
- Acceptance of all fleece types and colours
- Working together with the Fleece Liaison Officers and growers to actively source fleece and assist with transport concerns
- New and Second Hand fleece wool packs and plastic bags for the packaging of fleece after shearing
- Research and development of the Australian Alpaca industry both nationally and internationally
- Fleece workshops (by request)
- Payment to growers for fleece 180 days after classing
- A supply chain that focuses on communication to fleece growers
- Come and visit the AAFL Fibre Handling Centre and Retail Store in Sunshine, Victoria
Growers Fleece Liason Officers
All Australian Alpaca Association regions have an appointed Fleece Liaison Officer. Their role is to pass on information from AAFL regarding fleece handling, collection and transport to growers in their region.
Most regions organise fleece collection days allowing growers to combine their fleeces with others in pressed bales to considerably reduce the cost of transport to AAFL's fleece receival facility in Sunshine, Melbourne. Please contact your region FLO for further details on fleece collection days.
